Black Monday takes the audience back to October 19, 1987, also known as "Black Monday", the day of the worst stock market crash in the history of Wall Street. Behind the crash was a group of outsiders looking to take on the blue-blood, old-boys club of Wall Street, not only crashing the world's largest financial system but also a Lamborghini limousine, Don Henley's birthday party and the glass ceiling.
Among these outsiders are a number of stockbrokers working on Wall Street leading up to the crash. Blair Pfaff is new to Wall Street, working under veteran stockbroker Maurice Monroe, who seeks to use him to get to Pfaff's fiancée, looking to buy out her extremely rich company. Also working alongside them is Dawn Towner, the only woman among her peers, tries her hardest to be recognized in the workplace, but is constantly undermined, particularly by her coworker Keith Shankar, who struggles with being a closeted homosexual in the 1980s.
Black Monday airs Sundays at 10/9c on Showtime.
